Terms of use

The conditions for using this site and its tools, and the limits of what we guarantee about platform behaviour.

Last updated 15 August 2026.

Using this site

The site and its tools are free to use, with no account and no licence fee. Using the site means accepting these terms.

The characters themselves are part of the Unicode Standard and belong to nobody. Copy and use them freely. The written content, code and design of this site are ours.

Acceptable use

Do not use anything from this site to impersonate a person or organisation, to defeat a moderation system, or to hide malicious content. Those uses are prohibited here and generally prohibited by the platforms concerned.

Ordinary use is unrestricted: blank usernames, spacing in bios and captions, empty messages, placeholder values, typographic spacing and cleaning invisible characters out of text you received.

Accuracy of what we publish

Unicode property data on this site is generated from the Unicode Character Database and is accurate to that source. Category, White_Space, normalization results and byte lengths are reproducible.

Platform behaviour is different. Whether a given app accepts a given character can change without notice, and our statements about it are informed estimates rather than guarantees. Test before relying on one, particularly where a mistake costs a rename token.

No warranty

The site is provided as is. We do not warrant that it will be available without interruption, that it is free of errors, or that any character will work in any particular place.

Limitation of liability

We are not liable for loss arising from using this site. That includes a rejected username, a consumed rename token, a suspended account, or text altered by a tool on this site.

You are responsible for what you paste into a field and for following the rules of the platform you are using.

Where we link to an external site, we do not control it and are not responsible for its content or its privacy practices.

Changes to these terms

These terms may change, and the date at the top of the page changes with them. Continuing to use the site after a change means accepting the revised terms.
